Medicaid Waiver iBudget Redesign

What’s happening?

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), in conjunction with the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), has been directed by the Florida legislature to develop a plan to redesign the waiver program.

The Concerns

Many families, organizations, and advocacy groups are very concerned about how this could potentially significantly and detrimentally impact beneficiaries.

The Response

Uniting for Action has responded by debuting its revolutionary Issues Management System to allow the disabilities community across the state to effectively respond to the concerns of potential budget and services cuts for the vulnerable people who rely on them.

Addressing Concerns

Across the state of Florida, nearly everyone that is connected to the disabilities community is very concerned about how the iBudget redesign could potentially severely impact those receiving benefits through cuts or disruptions in services.

A great summary of those concerns, along with how to reach out to legislators to express those concerns, was presented at the September meeting (watch the video on this page) of Our Voices Together by:

  • Beth Gulling – Vice President Community Relations, Community Resource Network of Florida
  • Kevin Lewis – Executive Director, LARC, (Lee County Association of Remarkable Citizens)
  • Barbara Braun – Waiver Support Coordinator

Our Voices Together is a collective group of families, friends, direct supports, support coordinators, provider agencies, community members, advocacy groups, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) working together to use their voices to improve services in Florida.
